OGDEN — A late-night fire caused an estimated $15,000 in damages to a detached garage Sunday, and investigators are still trying to determine the cause.

At 11:25 p.m. Sunday, March 11, Ogden City and Northview fire departments responded to 545 Chester St. in Ogden, according to an OCFD press release.

“Upon arrival, crews reported flames coming from a detached garage located in the rear of the property,” OCFD Deputy Chief Eric Bauman wrote in the release. “Crews were able to extinguish the fire in the detached garage quickly.”

The home is vacant, and no damage to the home or other structures near the garage was reported.

“The fire is under investigation by the office of the Ogden City Fire Department Fire Marshal, and damage is estimated at $15,000,” Bauman wrote.

Eighteen firefighters from the two departments responded with one ladder truck, three fire engines, one paramedic rescue, one ambulance, the deputy fire marshal and a battalion chief. No injuries were reported by firefighters.
